Jean Simmons was perhaps best known for her riveting performances on the big screen including Academy Award nominated roles in The Happy Ending and Hamlet.

Her work in the television mini-series "The Thorn Birds" earned her an Emmy Award.

She starred as Desirée Armfeldt in the U.S. national tour of and in the London premiere production A Little Night Music, a musical by the legendary Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim.

Awarded OBE by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003.

Bradford Film Festival 2003 Guest of Honour.
